Manga of the 1950s and 1960s

“Tetsujin 28-gĹ? (鉄人28ĺ?· Tetsujin NijĹ«hachi-gĹ??, literally “Iron Man #28″) is a 1956 manga written and illustrated by Mitsuteru Yokoyama, who also created Giant Robot. The series centred on the adventures of a young boy named Shotaro Kaneda, who controlled a giant robot named Tetsujin 28, built by his late father.”

    At the top of the front cover (the first one), it advertises the manga as “A newly started Science detective manga series”. There still are references to Tetsujin #28 in many anime and manga now. I’m in the wrong generation to know much about it, but I’ve often heard my Dad trying to make cultural references from it.
