“I have a collection of 78rpm records and a wind-up gramophone so I love the music but I also love the typography and graphics. I like them because they act as inspiration for my writing. One was both inspiration and background image for my story “The Anniversary”, for example.
“The 1940 Olympics Columbia sleeve is interesting, I think, simply because there was no 1940 Olympics. It was offered to Japan then withdrawn. Helsinki was the next choice, but they quarrelled with the IOC and so no Olympics took place until after the War.”
I wonder what Columbia’s relationship to the Olympics was
